2022 Heavyweight Athletics Registration

Round Hill Highland Games brings Heavyweight Athletics Amateur Competitors to the Connecticut Highlands. Heavy Athletics are traditional Scottish athletic competitions which require significant strength, power and agility.

Our Heavyweight Competition includes events for women and men, masters' class and novice. Competitors must be 18 years of age or above, and must sign a waiver of liability, including COVID waiver.

• 16 lb Hammer Toss - the ancient ancestor of the modern Olympic hammer throw • 28 lb Weight (Distance) - weight thrown for distance • 56 lb Weight (Distance) - a heavier weight thrown for distance • 56 lb Weight (Height) - the heavy weight thrown over a bar for height • Sheaf Toss - a pitchfork is used to throw a sheaf (bag of hay) over a bar for height • 18 lb Stone Put - the ancient ancestor of today's shot put • 

Special Award for Caber Toss Competition - the signature event of the Highland Games, where athletes toss an 18-20' log in a 12 o'clock flip

Kilts are the proper attire of the day for all competitors. Competitors may set up a 10x10 tent and are encouraged to bring chairs.

All competitors must pre-register in order to participate in the Heavy Athletic Events. Registration includes admission to the Games for Competitor plus 4 non-competing guests. Field Entries cannot be accepted without Athletic Director's approval.

Registration includes competition fees, competitor t-shirt, and admission to the Games for 4 non-competing guests.

Check-In begins at 8:00am, Competition begins promptly at 8:30am on the Athletic Field.

Saturday night camping is available at a reduced price to all Heavyweight Athletes.

Amateur Heavyweight Competition events are held rain or shine, and fees are not refundable.
